NCBJ ends week on high note

The final trade day of the week concluded with a total volume of 315,904 shares crossing the floor of the stock exchange for a market value of $5.57 million.

National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd (NCBJ) was the volume leader, posting 171,740 shares valued at $154,566. Neal & Massy Holdings Ltd (NML) followed contributing 100,541 shares with a value of $4.92 million. Sagicor Financial Corporation (SFC) accounted for a volume of 27,282 shares, which were valued at $327,394.29, while 5,000 shares of LJ Ltd ‘B’ (LJWB) changed hands for a value of $5,000. Other significant performers included Point Lisas Industrial Port Development Corporation (PLD) and Scotiabank T&T Ltd (SBTT), which added 4,000 shares and 2,319 shares valued at $29,160 and $68,711.97, respectively. National Flour Mills Ltd (NFM) recorded the largest volume of the week as 5.77 million shares were traded for a value of $3.64 million. Weekly volume stood at 6.98 million shares with a value of $27.33 million. Declines outnumbered advances 2:1 as PLIPDECO declined by $0.81 to $7.29 and National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd slipped $0.05 to $0.90. Conversely, Neal & Massy climbed $0.02 to $49.

The West Indian Tobacco Company Ltd (WCO) enjoyed the greatest weekly price increase as it closed $2.80 higher at $30.80. On the contrary, PLIPDECO’s decline yesterday was the largest for the week. There was no activity on the Mutual Fund Market. Prices remained unchanged at $5.11 for Caribbean Property Fund (CPF), $3.46 for Praetorian Property Mutual Fund (PPMF) and $70 for Savinvest India Asia Fund (SIAF). The Second Tier Market remained inactive with FNCU-Venture Capital Company Ltd (FNCU) and Mora Ven Holdings Ltd (MOV) standing firm at $1 and $13.50 respectively. There was no activity recorded on the Bond Market. The Composite Index fell 1.69 points to close on 784.78, down 3.88 points for the week. The All T&T Index traded down 0.68 points to close at 1,113.10, having gained 3.66 points over the past week. The Cross Listed Index slipped 0.32 points to 56.82, to record a weekly loss of 1.33 points.
